David MacPhail

Yardman at Arlary

David is based at Arlary and is responsible for yard management, and general yardwork. Davy is the first person that our horses see each morning as he starts shortly after 4am, checking around the yard and giving each horse haylage. He is also in charge of the mucking out and bedding down of the stables in the main front yard. On work mornings Davey harrows the gallops in between lots and has overall management of the woodchip gallop at Arlary. He also organises the delivery of Jenkinsons shavings at Arlary.

Brian Porteous

Yardman At Arlary

This is Brian's first job in racing and he joined us in September 2018 having previously worked in many industries, including setting up websites, and driving forklifts. Forming part of our yard staff he keeps his stables immaculate and everything that he does is done to a high standard. He is going to help with some of the local driving and while he has no previous experience of working with horses he is learning fast how to handle them.

James Witt

Yardman At Arlary

James joined the yard in March 2017. Born and raised in Kinross he started work as a kitchen porter. Feeling a change of career he joined the yard to help David as the yard has continued to grow. In his spare time, he prefers two wheels instead of four hooves by participating in cycling and motor cross. 

Will Wardlaw

Kilduff Farm Manager

A farmers son, Will is based at Kilduff where he helps wth all the yard work and farm work. He joined the team as farm manager in 2014 for a year before jetting off to Australia to play semi professional rugby and work for trainer Michael Freedman. During which he led up G1 Golden Slipper in the richest 2 yo race in the world. He re-joined the yard in March 2017. He has graduated with a degree in Ecology from the University of Aberdeen. Will plays for a number of rugby teams including captaining the Projecx Waterboys on their successful rugby 7s trip to Barbados in December 2017 and 2018 and in Dubai in 2018 


Bradley Morgan

Kilduff Farm and Yardman

Bradley joined in May 2017 as a yardmen at Kilduff. Growing up on a farm he is a great help and a hard worker and he assists Will with running the farm as well as keeping the stables and yard tidy. Anything mechanical takes Bradleys interest, especially cars. He is also a Kinross local.


Callum Black


Callum joined us in September 2016 as a yardman. With prior experience in this field working for the council in ground maintenance. He has previously been part of the Amazon team in Dunfermline. Callum is a Milnathort local.

Ronnie Reid

Yard Help At Arlary And Kilduff

Ronnie is self employed and helps us when we need an extra set of hands. He drives the tractor, helps with building issues, helps on the farm, and is generally there when we need him. In his spare time Ronnie is a musician and has played in bands since the 70s. His band plays at our owners lunches and yard parties.
