Saturday Mornings And Pre Carlisle

Saturdays have always been work days for us but with all of our jockeys in we had a morning of schooling as well. At Kilduff we warmed up around the fields then jumped Flutter Down, Buddha Scheme, Max Appeal, Sky Khan, Last King Of Wales, Grand Morning, Magnum, Slainte Mhor, Dr Hooves, Operation Overlord, Misfits, and Bialco. It is a credit to Scu's jockey training that we had twelve riders schooling with confidence and expertise. At Arlary Saint Freule had a pop in the school and then his usual roll see above; also see our Facebook page for a video of both.

Working at Arlary were Vengeur De Guye, Behindthelines, Mr Toastie, Rising Marienbard, Mannochmore, Katalystic, Emirat De Catana, Well Above Par, Royal Reserve and Exit To Where. Included in that list are a few who are still to make their seasonal returns; we are looking forward to getting Rising Marienbard, Mr Toastie and Behindthelines out soon.

Tomorrow we have four at Carlisle, starting io the two mile novice hurdle with Operation Overlord. A fine big chasing type he is still a youngster and while he has schooled really well he will learn a lot tomorrow.

Next up is a horse who knows plenty, the smart and clever Saint Freule. He is stepping up in trip and will need to be at his best to win again tomorrow.

Misfits missed out on his run in the Borders National and instead comes here to Carlisle for a three mile two furlong chase. He has good form round here but needs to travel better than last time at Hexham. If he does he could be off a handy light weight,

Finally, we run Offtheshoulder another chasing type. We were going to start straight over hurdles but for a five year old he is still green and we think that tomorrow's experience will stand him in good stead in the future.

I am fuming and that is an understatement. In the Racing Post on Tuesday, an argument is put forward to have no blank days before Christmas!!! Here was me thinking that the likes of Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn, Jo Swinson and Nicola Sturgeon had no equals when it came to talking utter nonsense.

James Knight, must be something of the night about him, wants punters to have the gift of racing. Thanks but no thanks. I will settle for a couple of pairs of socks.

Even though racing continues behind the scenes, a little bit of quality time with family and friends is not unreasonable. It is about time the Racing Post started to live in the here and now, instead of walking around with its head in the clouds on fantasy island. Too many of these columnists on that paper are completely out of touch with the real world. My gift to them is "Get a Life", or better still let us return to the Sporting LIfe and the Sporting Chronicle. Those were the days. End of rant.

PS: Merry Christmas and a very Happy no independence referendum New Year.
